Pack: A Pack is the larger group that encompasses all Cub Scouts, typically ranging from Kindergarten to 5th grade. The Pack is the overarching unit that includes all Dens. It is led by a Cubmaster, who is responsible for organizing Pack meetings and activities, and ensuring that the program is delivered effectively. The Pack meets once a month and includes all Cub Scouts, their families, and leaders. Pack meetings are designed to be fun and engaging, often featuring activities, ceremonies, and presentations that recognize the achievements of the scouts.
Den: A Den is a smaller group within the Pack, usually consisting of scouts who are the same age or grade. In Wyoming, each Den has around 20 scouts and is led by a Den Leader, who is often a parent of one of the scouts. The Den Leader operates as a Project Manager, where the Den Leader sends out email communications for the Den Meetings, schedules meetings, and makes sure each den meeting is led by an adult volunteer. Den Meetings are held once a month and focus on specific activities and achievements that are age-appropriate.
More details on the organization can be found here: https://www.scouting.org/programs/cub-scouts/how-cub-scouting-is-organized/
As of today, we have 7 Dens: One co-ed Den per grades K-5th which allows both boys and girls to participate in the same den and one all girls Den.
Rank: A rank is like a level in Cub Scouts that matches the scout's age or grade. As scouts grow older, they aim to complete the tasks needed to achieve their next rank, starting from Lion and moving up to Arrow of Light.
Adventure: An adventure is a fun activity that helps scouts learn new skills. Completing adventures helps scouts earn their rank and involves doing specific tasks related to different themes.
This link contains ALL of the adventures for EVERY rank and how to plan a meeting to complete them. This is a very helpful tool for planning out Den meetings.
Our Pack asks parents to purchase only the blue Cub Scout shirt from the Dan Beard Scout Shop for your Scout. All you need are the following as the store loves to try to upsell you!
In addition to the blank blue shirt with the council patch and the two standard scouting patches, the two patches that you need to have are: 1) the Pack number (82) and 2) the den number.
